Inspection World

The American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) just held its annual Inspection World conference. The three days of learning included the latest information on identifying wood rot, attic insulation and ventilation problems including identifying the causes of ice dams and how to prevent them from happening, diagnosing common and uncommon problems within a house, and advanced instruction on identifying electrical defects.

It's all part of our commitment to giving you the best, most intelligent, and most complete home inspection possible. Whole house inspections, radon testing, mold testing, and more, we do it all for you. Call today to schedule your inspection, 913-268-0222.

Kansas Law

Now that it's 2010, a new law has gone into effect in Kansas. Your home inspector has to be "registered" with the State if Kansas. Anyone inspecting homes in Kansas WITHOUT being registered with the state is in violation of the law.

What does this mean to you? You are protected by the new law because home inspectors must now follow Kansas home inspector Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, maintain 16 hours of continuing education annually, and show financial responsibility in the form of insurance or a bond. New inspectors must pass a state approved 80 hour home inspector instruction course.

For your peace of mind, know that Miki Mertz, president and owner of Complete Home Inspection, is registered with Kansas, carries Errors and Omissions insurance, and is co-founder of the Midwest Inspectors Institute which is one of the only schools approved to teach the 80-hour instruction course.
